About

On the morning of June 28th, 2022, my life abruptly changed after saying goodbye to my husband and son before they walked out the door of our home to leave for childcare and work. I never would have dreamt that it would be the last time I would see them alive. What would happen in the following hours was unimaginable.

Beck’s Backseat to Change is a podcast dedicated to raising awareness surrounding hot car deaths and near misses. I created this not only for myself as a space to share my grief from losing both my son and my husband, but a platform to share resources I wish I would have known about prior to that fateful day. My hopes in creating this podcast is to shed more light on these tragedies and how easily they occur.

Hot car deaths are a stigmatic topic and people often judge the parent or caregiver as being neglectful and incompetent, which is far from the truth. I know that for a fact. I, too, was judgmental. I assumed only unloving parents did this. How could anyone forget their child in the backseat of a vehicle?

And now here I am, eating my own words. This is your opportunity to learn a valuable lesson without losing your loved ones.

My purpose in life has physically left this Earth, but my responsibility as a mother and a wife will never waver and I will spend the rest of my days fighting for changes and honoring my family.
